TWENTYDARKSEVEN is a new powerful German / Dutch outfit formed by veteran and talented musicians from the Euro scene which are presenting their debut CD “Roar“.
Just check the personnel: Marcus Jürgens, ex- vocalist from underrated rockers Pump, ex-Mennen / FOX bass player Alex Jansen, drummer Hans in’t Zandt (ex-Vengeance, Praying Mantis) and guitar wizard Peter Wagner (ex-Wicked Temptation, Piledriver) are a quality guaranteeing.

20DarkSeven are a hard ‘n heavy quartet with lots ’80s influences but with a contemporary sound and attitude. They follow the path that bands like Dokken, Dio, Ozzy or Lynch Mob have paved efficaciously in the past.
On “Roar” they also develop a more melodic side mixing American & European stylings akin XYZ, Keel or Vinnie Vincent Invasion with the edge of acts like Fate, Shakra, Crystal Ball or Victory.
It’s a quite interesting blend resulting in a compact and effective set of songs.

There’s indeed roaring numbers like opener “Do You Like the Dark”, “Heart of a Lion”, the Lynch Mob-esque “Edge of a Knife”, the mid-Eighties Ozzy of “You don’t know Me” or the groovy “Back in the Dirt”, whilst more melodious cuts including “Come Undone” (reminds me XYZ) or the driving and quasi anthemic “Killing with Kindness” (great chorus) provide the necessary balance.
No place for ballads here, TwentyDarkSeven go for the rocking stomp, and they are quite good at it.

“Roar” makes justice to its title, rocks all over and offer something for everyone who enjoy the more muscular side of hard rock and Euro hard ‘n heavy.
All involved in TwentyDarkSeven deliver the goods, including producer Achim Köhler (Primal Fear, Sinner), an expert knob twiddler at the game of provide a compact and punchy sound.
A rocking, effective disc.
