SCHUBERT IN ROCK – the side project of No Bros’ Klaus Schubert – has just released it new album, “Commander Of Pain,” the band’s first for new record label Pure Steel Records.
Klaus Schubert is a legendary Austrian hard rock guitarist and concert promoter, mastermind behind the band No Bros and founder & owner of Schubl Productions.
Schubert In Rock has been put together by Schubert with the intention of bringing together some of the greatest hard rock musicians and singers he’d admired most throughout his career.

The first Schubert In Rock album featured the likes of Tony Martin, Biff Byford and Joe Lynn Turner providing lead vocals. These were No Bros songs re-recorded for the occasion.
Now 2018, just like it did five years ago, the new Schubert In Rock project features some of the world’s most sought-after metal / hard rock musicians, marking yet another milestone in Austrian rock music.
But this time the new album introduces a number of entirely new songs, all of them tailor-made for each artist while remaining true to Schubert’s distinctive sonic signature.

The line-up is pretty impressive: Marc Storace (Krokus), Don Airey (Deep Purple), Jeff Scott Soto (Sons of Apollo, W.E.T.), Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson, Jeff Beck), Doogie White (Rainbow, Michael Schenker, Cornerstone), Dan McCafferty (former front man of Nazareth), Michael Vescera (Obsession, Loudness), Carl Sentance (Don Airey Band), as well as local friends like singer Ewald Pfleger from the international chartbreakers Opus.

Each vocalist perform 2 songs, and it’s great to hear Jeff Scott Soto singing a song (“Forgive Me When I Fall”) including the great Don Airey playing some swirling Hammond B3 all over.
Krokus’ Marc Storace rocks in the title track, Dan McCafferty does a great job on “Too Late”, and Michael Vescera add his power to the Dio-esque “On The Line”.
For Doogie White, Schubert wrote two songs with a real Rainbow feel – both featuring Don Airey of course, who, by the way, play keyboards on almost the entire disc.

You can hear an obvious chemistry between all involved in Schubert In Rock’s “Commander Of Pain”.
This an extremely enjoyable CD to any fan of timeless, immortal classic hard rock sounds and some outstanding vocalists from the genre.
