Released today, “Up From The Ashes” is the new album – their fourth – from Finnish 5-piece SOULHEALER. Faithful to their melodic metal / hard rock classic recipe done the ‘Finnish way’, the new CD packs 10 energetic dongs with the ‘catchy factor’ more augmented than before.

No strangers to this blog, it’s easy to get hooked by SoulHealer music; its cool lyrics and classy guitar riffs delivers the perfect soundtrack to both ’80s lovers and the new fans alike looking for great melodies and easy-to-remember songs.
The band opens the album with the racing title track, a blend of twin guitar attack in the best British tradition with raspy vocals throughout.

‘Through Fire And Ice’ is a rocker with pounding bass pushed up high in the mix and driven by a solid driving rhythm, what clicks about this song in particular is the chorus just sucking you in until a seed is planted in your brain.

‘Fly Away’ rocks with a powerful riff leading the way, followed ‘Sins Of My Father’, a seven minute epic opening with a haunting guitar plucking with eerie distortion flowing into harmonized riffs and solid vocals, including a really well crafted instrumental break.
‘The Final Judgement’ pretty much represents what SoulHealer are about with its opening crushing riff, double kick bass drums, metallic melodic line and strong yet clean vocals. ‘Behind Closed Doors’ is an anthem from the way the song is structured down, to the vocals and the hooks.

‘Land Of The Free’ rounds things off with somewhat of a epic feel with mid to fast tempo arrangements and a chanting chorus with war drums resulting in a slow fade out which honestly, left me wanting more.

The Finnish metal scene has been producing quality acts since the early Nineties, and they don’t seem to have lost any momentum. SoulHealer is a proof, a band that has been kept together for many years and delivers consistent, traditional melodic metal / hard rock albums.
“Up From The Ashes” is ‘fist pumping in the air’ heavy rock music, accessible, melodic, and easy to the ears.
