Inspired by the age of classic AOR / West coast such as early Toto, Chicago, Michael McDonald, etc, “Timepiece” is DOUG BRONS‘ new album featuring phenomenal musicianship from Grammy award winning artists, great songwriting, and fantastic production – You will be keeping this one on your top shelf.

Doug Brons’ music first came to my attention via a couple of singles. He already released a full album some years ago, and Brons spent many months of writing along with as much sporadic recording/production as an independent artist’s budget would allow to create the follow-up.
The time is now as Doug Brons returns with his new record called “Timepiece”, inspired by such timeless artists as Michael McDonald, David Pack, Toto, Michael Sembello & others, the CD delivers with a soulful, classic westcoast vibe, but also with a modern sensibility and direction.

As you press play, you’re met with the energetic track of affirmation titled “Amen” that segues into “From Here” with its message of redemption and the self-doubt that can creep in during that journey. Doug’s gritty vocals bring such authenticity to the vibe and feel of these thoughtful compositions.
Hard grooving tracks like “Ten Men” and “Love Finds A Way” (featuring Bill Champlin on backing vocals) are balanced with thoughtful, contemplative fare such as “Slowly” and “The Inn Between”.

The track “It’s Been You” is another highlight that takes a very cool unexpected left turn musically that is a real treat. The album closes with the cinematic “City Of Light”.
Musicians contributing to the project include Pat Coil on B3, a Michael Whittaker synth solo & Stephen Salamunovich on drums. Producer Tom Hemby does an outstanding job behind the desk as well as providing awe inspiring guitar work along with bass duties and additional programming.

In addition to all vocals and compositions, Doug Brons lays down stellar keyboards, piano, synth bass and drum programming throughout his arrangements.
This release is definitely worth your attention and is a slam dunk for anybody who enjoyed first half of the ’80s smooth AOR and the artists mentioned above.
