TARGET (SWE, ex-Glory) – Far Beyond Reality (2020)

Now this is a quite special release: “Far Beyond Reality” from Swedish melodic hard rockers TARGET. This band is formed by experienced musicians from the genre; Peter Eriksson was the lead singer of awesome 80s AOR band GLORY, and Mats “Limpan” Lindfors – also part of GLORY – graced the recordings as performer / producer for Kee Marcello, Glenn Hughes, John Norum, Tone Norum, etc.
“Far Beyond Reality” was recorded several years ago, but delayed due to Lindfors death in 2017. Now 2020 finally the CD is being released and of course, dedicated to Mats “Limpan” Lindfors.

Target comprised Eriksson (vocals), “Limpan” Lindfors (guitars), Totte Wallgren (bass), Jonathan Johansson (guitars), and Linus Johansson (drums), all musicians with a rich CV behing them.
Their music, of course, is classic Melodic (Hard) Rock spiced with AOR, and with a quite distinctive sound.

“Far Beyond Reality” is quite guitar driven, mixing styles from the Scandinavian and American style of the genre. There’s some cuts with a certain DOKKEN-ish feeling, others bring to mind 90s GLORY, others the melodic side of UGLY KID JOE, and there’s room from Scandi-like power ballads.

While it’s obvious the track list comes from different recording sessions – some songs are better produced than others – it’s great to finally have the chance to hear all the TARGET recordings, and the last Mats “Limpan” Lindfors project.
