FIORE – All I Feel [Japan edition +1]
AOR fans recognize the name Jon Fiore as the lead vocalist for the band PREVIEW and their 1983’s only, self-titled album. Fiore worked as well as backing singer for a lot of other artists, and his name can be found into the credits on many of the AOR / Melodic Rock releases of ’80s & ’90s.
Meanwhile Jon Fiore wrote his own songs, finally assembled the band FIORE, and during the first half of the Nineties formed a partnership with HAREM SCAREM’s Harry Hess & Pete Lesperance whom helped FIORE to record & release two albums.
As requested, here’s the other FIORE album. In Europe the CD was titled ‘Body Electric’, but for this Japanese edition not only it was re-titled “All I Feel“, but also has different covert art, different running order, and an exclusive extra track.
Again the duo of Harry Hess and Pete Lesperance are heavily involved into the album’s creation, with other HAREM SCAREM members appearing as guests as well.
As happened with the other FIORE album, “All I Feel” is again produced and co-written by Harry Hess, and there’s no escaping from the HAREM SCAREM sound, but that hardly is a bad thing…
Whereas ‘Today Till Tomorrow’ was pretty much in the mould of the first two HS albums, “All I Feel” sounds more like the second half of the Nineties Scarem material. A few of the songs, like “I Will Wait” and “Everyday” remind me strongly of “Big Bang Theory”, more groovy and with darker guitar scales.
Those aside, there are enough songs that do have that late ’80s / early ’90s melodic rock magic to make this a good follow-up: “Fool Yourself”, “The Only Way We’ll Know”, “Keep Me Satisfied” and “Come and Gone”… They’re all quite brilliant sweet rocking / AOR songs.
The two ballads are pretty good too, both solely written by Hess. “Destiny” is the ‘big Power Ballad’ with a chorus to match, whereas “The Ladder” is a softer, semi-acoustic slow tune.
