SKIN DISCIPLE – S/T 1990-1993 [previously unreleased / digitally remastered] (2023) *Exclusive*
SKIN DISCIPLE rocked the Atlanta Rock circuit during the late ’80s / early ’90s and while never secured a recording contract the band taped their own music at professional studio facilities because frontman Ben McRee had connections. In fact he later developed a producer, arranger, audio engineer career, etc still active with his MusikWorks Inc.
Now 2023, after more than three decades McRee is releasing by himself the SKIN DISCIPLE recordings from the early Nineties with a very sound quality. Musically, SKIN DISCIPLE’s sound is early Nineties American Hard Rock similar to LYNCH MOB, BADLANDS, TORA TORA, HERRICANE ALICE, etc, very well constructed songs sporting tight musicianship.
The quite original thing with SKIN DISCIPLE precisely is Ben McRee’s voice: he’s a confessed Ronnie James Dio admirer and it shows. McRee’s is pretty much in vocal phrasing like Ronnie, also his vocal color. And that fits very well with SKIN DISCIPLE’s classic hard rock recipe.
Another band that incredibly went unnoticed but had real talent.
