THE JACK – Rock Elite ’84 [remastered 2023]
Alongside the Megattack albums featured here yesterday, Metallic Blue Records is also releasing for the first time on CD the recordings of other Utah / Megattack-related band: THE JACK.
THE JACK featured the lead vocals of Rick “The Jack” Jackson, future Megattack front man. However the style / sound of THE JACK was much more melodic, bluesy hard rocking, with a first half of the ’80s AOR touch.
“Rock Elite” was THE JACK’s first album released in 1984 in a small edition on cassette only and has now been re-released on CD with 12 tracks remastered. We hear very well done songs, some really remarkable such as ‘Young Again’ with is ‘running’ AOR sound & keyboard splashes.
In 1984, The Jack was the top act in Salt Lake City, Utah, and one of the first to play this type of rock in the area. Rick Jackson had a unique, raspy voice that would appeal to fans of Paul Shortino, so “Rock Elite” will please fans of Rough Cutt, Badd Boyz, Julliet, Y&T, etc.
