YES – Big Generator [Japan SHM-CD mini-LP remastered +5] *HQ*
The ’80s sounding’ albums from YES are a different beasts from the band’s discography. ‘90125’ (1983) and ‘Big Generator’ (1987) are huge, bombastic. And there’s many reissues / remasters of both albums, and all sound different.
One of you asked for the best sounding YES “Big Generator” version. Well, if you prefer a quiet vinyl-like output try to get the Audio Fidelity CD AFZ releases, but if like a booming yet clear sound, none rivals this “Big Generator [Japan SHM-CD remastered +5]” pressing.
The remastering has been handled by Isao Kikuchi, who has performed high-quality mastering for a great number of international artists, while Japanese producer Shin Katayama was chosen by Warner Music Japan as this project’s supervisor.
Additionally, this release include 5 bonus tracks, but the real meat & potato is the main ‘Big Generator’ sounding so good.
“Big Generator” is the more ‘Eighties’ sounding YES album ever, co-produced by talented guitarist Trevor Rabin. The record was successful commercially, with two songs reaching the US Top 40: “Love Will Find a Way” (also a No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock chart) and “Rhythm Of Love” (their last US Top 40 hit).
The pristine, polished sound production of “Big Generator” never sounded better than on this remaster.
HIGHLY Recommended
