THE ALAN PARSONS PROJECT reached major exposure in 1982, with their most popular album to date, platinum ‘Eye In The Sky’. The album features the instrumental piece “Sirius”, which has become a staple of many college and professional sporting arenas throughout the world. It is best known for its use by the Chicago Bulls to introduce its starting line-up during its championship years of the 1990s and is still used today.
But the album also scored pop hits with soft-rock sound production ready for FM radio, still retaining a ‘proggy concept’ all over the track list.
Now 2024 Arista/Legacy is releasing “Eye In The Sky (Sessions)“, a very deep insight into the album creation, songwriting, and recording. Perhaps many consider this release only essential for die-hard fans, but there’s really interesting and revealing moments in this release.
A good song is always a good song, and in “Eye In The Sky (Sessions)” the LP lovely songs are presented in a different disguise. THE ALAN PARSONS PROJECT is known for their perfection into the studio, and here we hear some rough mixes, more loosely instrumentation, songs in its primal stage. And again, very good songs.
