Here’s another post celebrating the great JACK RUSSELL.
First of all, this double CD release should not have been entitled “The Essential Great White” – that was done by the record label to sell more CD’s. A shame, as this is a darn good collection of Jack Russell doing covers of hard rock classic tunes, and its quality deserved a proper banner: call it ‘Jack Russell’s Great White’, or just Jack Russell several solo recordings for tribute albums.
Of course among the 30 tracks we find Jack re-recorded versions of Great White staples such as ‘Rock Me’ or ‘Once Bitten, Twice Shy’, but the gems are the covers he did putting his awesome own feeling.
Russell does killer versions of Survivor’s ‘Eye Of The Tiger’, Journey’s ‘Any Way You Want It’, Van Halen’s ‘Unchained’, The Cult’s ‘Love Removal Machine’, Aerosmith’s ‘Same Old Song & Dance’, Motley Crue’s ‘Kick Start My Heart’, Judas Priest’s ‘Diamonds and Rust’… and many more.
And believe us, these absolutely rocks!
