LAZER CLUB – A Summer Story (2024) *HQ*
There’s many talented artists from what is called ‘synthwave movement‘ which brings back the ’80s culture not only musically, but also lyrically and via visual imagery. Italy’s LAZER CLUB is one of our favorites and we already featured their previous albums.
LAZER CLUB new effort is titled “A Summer Story“, and speaks for itself. Let’s go back to 1985 with numbers like ‘Heat of the Night’, ‘Fall in Love’, ‘Summer Nights’, ‘Sunset Drive’… you get the picture. As happened with preceding albums, ”A Summer Story” is some kind of a ‘concept album’ that tells love stories born in a summer vacation between Tokyo and Los Angeles.
The good thing about LAZER CLUB is their craft, not limited to synths; sonically this is rock&pop with smooth vocals (each track featuring different male & female leads), electric guitar, some heavy sax, and overall uptempo, feel-good melodies.
And for this album turn things even more interesting as this album was produced by Lazer Club in collaboration with the best artists of the Synthwave scene, like our favorites Magic Dance, Ultraboss, etc.
Having a batch of capable vocalists always is a plus for a synthwave song, however the only instrumental track here, closer ‘Til We Meet Again’, is a highlight, with lots of electric guitar into a tune recalling Top Gun’s Anthem.
’80s music is your thing? Movie soundtracks from the era? Grab LAZER CLUB’s “A Summer Story” now.
