JACK PONTI Presents Volume 2 / *0dayrox Exclusive*
We featured yesterday ‘JACK PONTI Presents Volume 1′, the official release of demos from the New Jersey songwriter who has penned songs for Alice Cooper, Keel, Trixter, Nelson, Kane Roberts, Joe Lynn Turner, Bonfire, Bon Jovi, etc.
Ponti is a classic “behind the scenes” character in the history of the music business, but the man just wrote some of the greatest rock n’ roll songs in history. As record labels / publishing agencies did all over the ’80s, countless Jack Ponti songs were demoed for being offered to artists / producers. Unknown musicians & vocalists were hired for the performances, and many of them later found fame & fortune.
Unfortunately a ”Volume 2” never was released, but don’t worry, the 0dayrox team compiled more Jack Ponti demos, unreleased recordings we titled… “JACK PONTI Presents Volume 2“.
Some songs were later recorded by artists / bands, like ‘Loaded Gun’, by Alice Cooper for his album ‘Hey Stoopid’, with slightly different lyrics. The personnel / musicians involved isn’t specified in the tapes, but for sure you’ll recognize at least some vocalists… as example, there’s a young dude named Jeff Scott Soto.

Can you list the singers for these songs?
As said in the post, personnel is not listed on the tapes.
Sorry I missed that.
It’s not just “Love’s A Loaded Gun” by Alice Cooper.
We have here “Caught Up In The Crossfire” by Babylon A.D.,
“Bed Of Nails” by Randy Jackson’s China Rain,
“Danger in Disguise” by Erika (Norberg),
“Wake Me Up When The House Is On Fire” by Erika (Norberg),
“King For A Day” by Billy Branigan and
“Maybe Tonite” by Billy Branigan
GREAT
I’m a huge fan of Jack Ponti. An excellent and underrated composer.
The songs “Maybe tonight”, “King for a day” & “Hold on” were not composed by Jack Ponti, he was only a co-producer. They are from the album Billy Branigan – “Make a move” (1987).
The song “Renegade” was also not composed by Jack Ponti, but by Louis Chalif (aka Jamie Sheriff) and is sung by Jeff Scott Soto. It was not performed on the soundtrack Bad Jim (1990).
The song “Caught up in the crossfire” is a Surgin’ demo circa 1984-85, which was released on their cd “Electric nights” and was later recorded by Babylon A.D. on their debut album (1989).
The song “Wake Me Up When The House Is On Fire” is a demo by Erika Norberg and was released on the CD “In the arms of a starngers (1991) together with “Danger in disguise”. On this compilation it is apparently a Randy Jackson’s China rain demo, as are the other remaining unreleased demos, including “Love’s a loaded gun”, which was then officially recorded by Alice Cooper (1991) and “Not in the mood for a heartache”, which was recorded by Baton Rouge (1997).
