Comprising 4 brothers, Tom, Steve, David, and Carleen Litterer plus guitarist Brent Estlund, LITTERER was a very popular act from Iowa back in the ’80s. They began as “The Litterer Brothers Band”, but by ’84 they started to play hard rock and had shortened it to “The Litterer Band” , and then, just LITTERER.
LITTERER was a very professional band with a complete stage show, gear, costumes, and a strong following. They recorded their debut album ‘Rock This City’ in 1987, self-released, but very well produced. Next year appeared an EP, titled ‘She’s So Dangerous’.
LITTERER style is classic American ’80s sounding melodic hard rock with a style reminiscent of early Night Ranger and Danger Danger (Tom has a voice color similar to Ted Poley), with good vocals, musicianship, and nice choruses / melodies.
“Romancing The Night” is a ‘best of’ compilation made and released by the band themselves, including songs from their 1987 LP and the 1988 EP, remastered and for the first time on CD. Also included is a previously unreleased track, ‘Live On Love’, a wonderful midtempo AOR song. The disc is hard to find now, over U$D 100 at eBay.

This Charles City-based melodic hard rock music group paid its dues — from about 1980 to 1996 — by creating music, jamming and touring all over North America, and developing a loyal regional fan base over that time.

They cut a pair of albums, toured with some well-known rock superstars and came within inches of landing a record deal with a major label. Then they traded in their drumsticks and guitar picks for more typical lives in their home town.
For their years of service to rock ‘n’ roll, Litterer was inducted into the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.
