A few days ago we featured the good “Trouble In Paradise” album by RANSOM, the band formed by experienced musicians Tommy Girvin (Lead Vocals, Guitar) & Don Cromwell (Bass, Keyboards), both having previously been part of Eddie Money’s band, Fiona Flanagan Band, Harlan Cage, and more.
Now here’s more Don Cromwell music, the MelodicRock Classics release titled “A Story Unfolds“. The label reaches back into the vaults for yet another unreleased project from the past.
A Story Unfolds is the moniker given to a previously unreleased project featuring producer / songwriter / musician Don Cromwell and vocalist Chris Barr. All tracks were written and recorded between 1986 – 1993, with the album remaining on the shelf until now.
With so many songs recorded by the project back in the day, the label was quick to choose its usual route when given the opportunity to do so – offer a special double disc release featuring the tracks decided for the full ”A Story Unfolds” album, and adding the rest of the tracks on a bonus disc, so fans can get the complete musical story of the collaboration between Don and Chris.
This is Melodic Rock with some edge, very ’80s / early ’90s, akin Foreigner, Richard Marx, Ransom.

A note from Don:
A Story Unfolds began in the mid-80s when I was touring with Air Supply. I would come off the road looking for great singers to write and record with during my down time, hoping to eventually put a band together. A mutual friend referred me to Chris Barr, who at that time was going by the stage name Chris St. Ives and fronting a band under the same name. I went to see him at a club in the San Fernando Valley and was quite impressed by Chris’s voice and stage presence.
I introduced myself after the show and we set up to meet for a writing session. For the next four years or so, we wrote and recorded the songs you will hear on these CD’s.
It is so great that this music will finally see the light of day after all these years. I truly hope you enjoy listening and I dedicate this record to the loving memory of my friend and musical partner on these songs, Chris Michael Barr, who journeyed up to heaven in November 2003.
