TAZ TAYLOR BAND – The Other Side Of Midnight (2025) *HQ*

”The Other Side of Midnight” is the newest LP from UK-born rock guitarist Taz Taylor. Available from his label, No Hair Records, the album features various subgenres of rock and roll – from riff-driven hard rock to ballads and a couple of instrumentals showcasing the band’s abilities.
With this new album, TAZ TAYLOR BAND reaches new heights as a quintet (rather than former line up as quartet) – thanks to the addition of acclaimed keyboardist Alessandro Del Vecchio. As an even bigger left turn, ”The Other Side of Midnight” marks the first time his band solely features a female vocalist, who in this case is Laura Vreeland.
The result is a piece of work that successfully demonstrates how a marquee guitarist and bandleader – and who had in his previous records several heavyweight vocalists like Doogie White, Graham Bonnet and David Reece – can maintain consistency in his own “voice” (vis a vis, his instrument) even when the singer is an entirely different gender.
With her smooth voice and sexy phrasing not excent of power Laura Vreeland provides a really welcomed female touch to Taz’s classic rock bluesy riffs influenced by the likes of Gary Moore and Michael Schenker. They do a cover of Rainbow’s classic ‘Temple Of The King’ and works greatly.
