Easily among the best tribute albums in the melodic rock / classic rock field, ”Tribute To BOSTON” was put together by Escape Music and guitarist / producer Steve Morris (Heartland, Shadowman, et all). This Japanese edition on Avalon / Marquee Records includes a bonus track, and song sequence is different.
Comprising talented British musicians – and some Scandinavian – the arrangements are fairly faithful, the only departures from Sholtz’ vision are some alternate intros, harmony vocals and guitar solos. Of course, each provide their own stamp.
Speaking of vocalists featured all are pure talent; Steve Overland (FM), Terry Brock (Strangeways), Tony O’Hora (Praying Mantis), Chris Ousey (Virginia Wolf), Sean Harris (Diamond Head, Notorious), Peter Sundell (Grand Illusion), Timothy Lewis (Departure) – while other musicians guesting are guitarists Ronnie Le Tekro (TNT), Tommy Denander, Vinny Burns (Dare), keyboardists Dave Chapman (Change of Heart), Don Airey, and more.

The album consists of 13 songs taken from the band’s first three albums: Boston (Long Time, Rock & Roll Band, Smokin’, More Than A Feeling, Peace Of Mind, Something About You, Hitch A Ride), Don’t Look Back (Don’t Look Back, It’s Easy) and Third Stage (Amanda, Cool The Engines, Can’t You Say).
All really well done and very enjoyable.
