As requested here’s the major label debut album from over-the-top Los Angeles glam quartet PRETTY BOY FLOYD: “Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz” in its Perris Records reissue including 5 bonus tracks. The label also ordered a new artwork for this release (We still prefer the original).
This cult classic ’80s US glamy hard rock album reissue features five bonus tracks, including the original Japanese Edition bonus track, the very cool Kevin DuBrow-written “Slam Dunk”, used for the movie Switch (1991) soundtrack. The band re-recorded “Slam Dunk” later for their album ‘Down to the Bone’, but here’s the original movie version.
Amog the other bonus tracks there’s a couple of which had been recorded as part of guitarist Kristy Majors solo project, but still very PBF.

On the main album, songs such as “48 Hours” (used in the 1989 film The Karate Kid Part III, however in its early version), “Rock And Roll Outlaws” and “Only The Young” really rock hard, and reminds one of Poison and early Motley Crue. Not surprisingly track 5 “Toast of the Town” is cover of a Mötley Crüe song which appeared as the b-side to their debut single released on their Leathür Records label in 1981. “Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz” also include two nice slower paced songs called “Wild Angels” and “I Wanna Be With You”.
0dayrox always give you more, and we have as extra Pretty Boy Floyd’s cover of ”Department of Youth” by Alice Cooper, originally released in Welcome To My Nightmare in 1975. This track was included as bonus on the rare band self-release of “Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz” sold at shows.

Pretty Boy Floyd sounded good and looked outrageous, a combination that created a huge buzz in their early years. We believe they should’ve had more recognition – ”Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz” is pure two thumbs up ’80s!
This is one of the very first Perris Records releases, and the new artwork ordered is quite poor. The original cover was much better, and ‘very ’80s’ and glammy L.A. However what really matters is the music, and we have here a very fun rock n’ roll record, with bonus tracks and a much better sonic output than the old CD version.
Btw, this reissue is out of print, with used copies being sold for over $100.
