In 2007, Tony Iommi, Ronnie James Dio, Geezer Butler, and Vinny Appice, who made up the line ups for Black Sabbath’s “Mob Rules” and “Dehumanizer” albums, reunited to tour in support of the Black Sabbath “Dio Years” compilation. With the original Black Sabbath line up technically still in place, Iommi (owner of the Black Sabbath name), decided that this line up would tour under the moniker “Heaven & Hell”, the name of the first Black Sabbath album to feature Ronnie James Dio on vocals (although, ironically, Vinny Appice did not appear on that album).
The tour was such a success that the group announced that they decided to continue working together, with all new material coming from this group to be released under the “HEAVEN & HELL” name.
Neon Nights: 30 Years Of Heaven & Hell” was recorded during the presentation of the studio album, captured Live at Wacken festival. As requested, here’s the Japanese SHM-CD version of this killer set, coming in a CD-sized papersleeve LP album replica, and a complete booklet with song lyrics and liner notes by expert journalist Malcolm Dome.
