As part of their ‘Classixx’ series Pride & Joy Music is releasing today MICHAEL SCIUTO‘s ’80s album “Edge” including 3 bonus tracks, songs never before heard. The CD limited to only 300 copies.
Michael Sciuto is a multi-instrumentalist with bass guitar being his primary instrument. Using keyboards and guitar as his main writing tools, his songs were written with a melodic approach intertwined with bass as a dominate force in his music.
After years of recording and playing live with his brother Tony Sciuto, a famous musician in AOR circles, Michael went solo to create his own LP which became “Edge”. After recording the album in the late Eighties, musical trends changed while then manager, Monte Lipman (currently of Republic / Universal Music) was shopping it to major labels. Hip Hop started dominating the charts and the record business shifted almost overnight leaving Michael Sciuto unsigned.
The album sat on the shelf for years till it was later released in Europe in the late Nineties as an indie record. It did well with promising acclaim from AOR listeners.
It’s great to see MICHAEL SCIUTO ”Edge +3 [Pride & Joy Music Classixx 023]” now properly released and with previously unreleased tracks. Fans of Hi-Tech AOR rejoice as this album sounds like a cross between ROBERT TEPPER, STAN BUSH, WHAT IF, REGATTA or MICHAEL MORALES. Production is strong and detailed with that sound impossible to replicate.

The story of “Edge” began after a demo got into the hands of Arista Records rep, Monte Lipman. Monte left an inspiring phone message that led to a management deal. It was the 80s and Michael was Monte’s 1st signed artist.
‘Monte Executive’ produced the “Edge” album and while it didn’t land the big record deal, Monte later went on to become a major music mogul. You can find him in places like Billboard or Variety magazine.
Michael became an indie artist and still is involved in the music business.

On “Edge” of course bother Tony Sciuto play guitar, and among others, famous producer David Prater (Firehouse, Dream Theater) who is also a musician, play drums.
Musically Michael borrows from classic AOR influences, combined with catchy melodies, his own soaring vocals, and anthemic guitar lines. The album manages to create a fresh sound that pushes the genre forward—always with a focus on keyboard-heavy, hi-tech AOR.

Over the years, this hi-tech AOR little gem has become a true collector’s item.
This Pride & Joy Music Classix reissue now offers the opportunity to relive this puer ’80s piece.
