HERE ///

TANGIER formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and grew up in the clubs with bands such as Cinderella, who would later help the group out by having Tangier opening for them.
Tangier released three albums with different line-ups, however with founder guitarist Doug Gordon always as driving force. Musically, the band evolved from the melodic hard rock / AOR of their early ’80s origins to the bluesy melodic / hard of following, major label albums.
TANGIER 1985‘s debut album, self-titled “Tangier” was a private release, LP vinyl only, and features singer Bill Mattson who also recorded on the band’s somophore record ‘Four Winds’. Every song has a sheen of beauty to it due to Mattson’s absolutely beautiful, raspy yet melodic and tuneful voice, working seamlessly with the stupendous guitar work of Gordon on every track. “Paradise,” “One More Time,” “Get Away”, “Lately I Don’t Know” are highlights mostly because of the intricate guitar work that sets them apart from the rest of the pack.

“Tangier” never was officially reissued – there’s many bootleg CD’s (a new one appeared a few months ago). This is the ‘Vinyl Reissues Records‘ unofficial compact disc release with fine sound quality – unfortunately the original tapes were lost, and we’ll never see a remastered version.
Consisting of nine Melodic Rock / American AOR tracks, “Tangier” is a pure mid-Eighties sounding album for all fans of this style delight.
