TERRA ATLANTICA – Oceans (2025)
”Oceans”, Germany’s TERRA ATLANTICA upcoming new album, is the continuation of their successful recipe: classic power metal combined with epic orchestrations and adventurous vibes. With this new record, the band takes listeners on a voyage across the seven seas, a musical expedition into unknown worlds filled with secrets, ancient legends, and new horizons. All via powerful riffs, exotic rhythms, cinematic / atmospheric sounds, and soaring choruses that demand to be performed live.
First track, intro “Ocean Fever” opens with beautiful piano notes and the sound of the sea. The soundscape fills with a symphonic orchestration and sound. Next “Back To The Sea” is an anthem driven by pounding drums, big electric guitars and orchestration, and that classic “happy” power metal sound.
Terra Atlantica play it like it is the early 2000s when the style was in its heyday. If you don’t mind that these guys aren’t trying to innovate even a little bit, just write uber catchy power metal tunes, you are in for a treat.
“To the Realm of Gods” has the driving, marshal beats and harmonized vocals of Sabaton, and “Oceans of Eternity” the epic, neoclassical stylings of Rhapsody Of Fire. A quick scan of the nautical-themed song titles will make clear the pirates of Alestorm and Running Wild were just over the horizon from Terra Atlantica’s recording location as well. Songs like “Land of Submarines” could easily be into any Edguy album.
Call this derivative if you like, you aren’t wrong. But a lot o people enjoy this type of metal, and if it is your thing, ”Oceans” doesn’t disappoints.
