As requested, a lovely album from the legendary Long Island Records ‘Rock Classic series’: ”Five Seven, Maybe Five Eight” by Canadian MICHAEL ZEE. The release compiles MICHAEL ZEE (also known Michael Z) 1984’s EP, and his unreleased album from 1986. As usual with the ‘Rock Classic series’, the release is individually numbered to 2000, the jewel case is gold stamped, and the CD gold-plated.
MICHAEL ZEE’s music is radio-friendly AOR / melodic rock / rock&pop with that Canadian feel & sound production – think Stan Meissner, Robert Tepper, Michael Morales, etc.
Michael Zweig cut his teeth during the Seventies all over the Canadian touring rock circuit which included time with artists like Lisa Hartt, Ray Materick and Bob Segarini. In 1984 he joined indie label Ready Records, out of London, Ontario and recorded his debut EP, ”Five Seven, Maybe Five Eight”. It was produced by Segarini and spawned the regional hit, ‘I’ve Got News For You’.
Michael then began touring with a back up band called The Fabulous Knockouts. The Knockouts became Seventh Son, and released a self-titled album. Throughout the rest of the ’80s, Michael Zee toured Ontario and Eastern Canada as member of Seventh Son.
Meanwhile began the recording of his second solo album, professionally produced and finished but never released.

In the 90s Zweig wrote, played, sang jingles, moved to L.A. and back, and finally started his own successful jingle company called Candyland, producing spots for Ford, GM, Sears, Adidas and many others. Meanwhile played with Burton Cummings & Randy Bachman, Tom Cochrane, The Carpet Frogs, and other Canadian acts.
Nice ’80s Canadian polished music.
