Born in Zurich in 1969, AD-RIAN is part of the first generation of Swiss pop and rock musicians who, in the 1980s, set out to learn their craft where the big stars and hits are made: he studied music and vocals at the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles.
Even though Ad-Rian isn’t immediately considered one of the top stars of the Swiss music scene, over the years he has become one of the country’s most influential songwriters, singers, musicians, and above all, producers. The fact that he doesn’t put his personality or work in the foreground, but rather lets his music speak for itself, makes this man, who lives and works in both Switzerland and France, a true exception in a world where Instagram likes or TikTok views sometimes seem to count for more than genuine creation.
Now he formed a band, AD-RIAN & THE RISE, and is releasing the album “Under One Sky“, a true Eighties sounding rock&pop album, with some early Nineties touches. Ad-Rian’s accent-free voice is clean and charismatic, and most of the songs on this album are uptempo, timeless rockers with a certain Australian / British vibe.
The Rise is a band that is also worth hearing. Mauro Zompicchiatti on bass and Thomas Wild on drums (both from Polo Hofer Schmetterband), Bernie Weber on piano & vocals, and Chris Stalder on lead guitar.
The result is very good, ‘handcrafted’ songs, solidly played like in the good old days, without frills or electronics.
“Under One Sky” is a reflection of everything Ad-Rian stands for – connection, freedom and integrity. He has decided to retire his music from Spotify due to their connection with firearms business.
The album brings together powerful melodies, fine lyricism, and a sonic atmosphere that’s both fresh and timeless. From anthemic choruses to stripped-back acoustic moments, The Rise helps bring Ad-Rian’s vision to life in a way that’s authentic and enjoyable.
