”Keep The Dream Alive” is a compilation of unreleased material from Canadian singer/songwriter and guitarist DOUG VARTY released on by MelodicRock Classics for its Limited Edition CD ‘500 Series’.
Inductee in the London Music Hall of Fame, Doug Varty is widely regarded as a consummate pro – his original music has been in movies, TV, and live theatre. Doug has fronted the Doug Varty Band; recorded with legendary producers Jack Richardson, Terry Brown (Rush, Blue Rodeo), and David Tyson (Hall and Oates). He’s appeared live with Bob Seger, Tina Turner, Jeff Healey, The Beach Boys, John Mellencamp, and Rush, to name but a few.
Varty also worked as ‘vocalist for hire’ during the ’80s & ’90s. There have been many recordings made of Doug’s music over the years, but these tracks, some of them his most favorite songs and performances, have not seen the light of day.

Now MelodicRock Classics is releasing this 15-track archive of DOUG VARTY unreleased songs and demos, remastered and limited to 500 units only.
Of course, coming from this label, all selections are ’80s sounding Melodic rock / AOR / rock&pop songs mostly recorded in the late Eighties / early Nineties, such as the wonderful melodic title track, a tune Varty sang for producer David Tyson in 1990. The song was co-written by Dean McTaggart (singer for ’80s band The Arrows), and Kurt Schefter (Alannah Miles) play guitar on it – watch the video below:
