A few days ago we featured the remastered reissue of HOLLAND 1985’s only album ‘Little Monsters’. HOLLAND was the band of singer Tom Holland, who for a time took the microphone in an incarnation of STEPPENWOLF between 1979 and 1980 and then fronted rockers THE B’ZZ.
HOLLAND and its sole LP was as well the first showcase for virtuoso guitarist Michael Angelo Batio’s phenomenal talent. Now we have here, as requested, the unreleased HOLLAND songs from the era, compiled and released on CD in 1999 by Michael Angelo Batio via his own record label M.A.C.E. Music.
Titled as one of the band’s song – “Wake Up The Neighborhood” – the album features professionally recorded pre-production demos of 6 songs later appeared in ‘Little Monsters’, but the other 6, half of this CD, are unreleased songs. And great ones!
Actually, these pre-production takes result much better, rawer, hard n’ heavy than the latter recorded for the LP. And the unreleased tracks too. Numbers like the catchy as hell ‘The Guys Who Killed Everybody’, the driving melodic hard rocker ‘Fortune In Flames’, or the groovy Rough Cutt-like ‘Nobody Else’ rock with style, and as said, very well taped, pre-produced & mixed.
HOLLAND’s “Wake Up The Neighborhood” deserve to be heard, if you liked their ‘Little Monsters’ or classy mid-80s American melodic hard rock in general, this is right up your alley!
