KARDANG – Bad Mistake (2025)
320_1 /// 320_2 /// HQ 1 /// HQ 2
Norwegians KARDANG are back with a new album titled ”Bad Mistake”, again delivering feel-good, easy to the ears melodic rock to have a good time. Just songs about girls, freedom and touring the States. That’s KARDANG philosophy, and that’s right. They just want to give you forty-five minutes of fun rock n’ roll.
While with a modern sound from the production side, KARDANG’s music is purely inspired by the Seventies and Eighties. Hey, the second track on the album is titled “We Don’t Live In The ’80s Anymore”… somebody tell the guys they are musically in that decade!
From the first chords of the opener, the title track, the feel-good atmosphere sets in, with a certain Harem Scarem / Rubber guitar drivin’. Chris Williams’ “Mike Tramp” voice is just great for this type of rock; melodic and slightly raspy, his voice brings a lot of swagger.
It’s not just for the title, ‘Kids Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll’ brings to mind 1984 Bryan Adams due its addictive chorus. The guys do a campfire / acoustic number in ‘Firefly’, but next crank the amps to 11 again for the boogie rock n’ roller ‘I Wanna Get Around’.
‘Stand Up’ is driven by a classic guitar riff, insistent, earworm, as it is the infectious chorus. Don’t expect a ballad from KARDANG, closer ‘High Hopes’, despite its title, it’s a rocker, with a little more expansion in arrangements, but kis ass anyway.
Kardang is back with a bang. Today you see millions of new bands emerging every week. All drowning in the same river of hopelessness trying to come up with something new and fresh in the business.
Then you have the band Kardang. These lads write the music they love. Melodic rock ‘n’ roll, simple but catchy riffs, and stadium-sized choruses / guitar solos. They just don’t give a damn about fashion, trends or complicated arrangements. This is just rock n’ roll.
