Past week we featured the three albums from LANCE POWERS for classic AOR / Melodic Rocker fans delight, and today we bring to you a true rarity; the LANCE POWERS ’80s recordings released by a private label only on vinyl, and now uber rarities.
Lance Powers comes from the American CCM scene, being lead vocalist & keyboardist for melodic rock / power pop band NUTRON, releasing an LP in 1982. However, being a prolific songwriter, he needed to show his own music, and arranged with small Hollywood record label ‘Starborn Records & Tapes’ the release of a single. Soon after things grew to a mini-LP release, as indie / private labels on a budget used to in the ’80s – an EP in fact.

The self-titled “Lance Powers EP” appeared in 1984 included 5 songs, all of course, pure 1983-1984 American AOR influenced by Survivor, Franke & The Knockouts, Synch… including sparkling keyboards (Lance is mainly keyboardist), Simmons drums and that years’ paraphernalia. Lovely stuff!
While playing as session musician, Lance continued writing and recording demos, and in 1986 released another single; ‘I’m Waiting For You’ w/ ‘Is It True’ (B-side), this time with a huge, bombastic production and arrangements from that glorious year for AOR music. All professionally recorded & produced.
A must for ’80 fans and collectors.
