Formed in the far north of Germany in 1986 by singer Maarco Schultz and drummer Oliver Kukla, SACRED SEASON taped two demos in ’88 and 1990. A major record label offered the band a deal but was interested in Schultz’s vocals only and asked to some line up changes, something that he refused.
After SACRED SEASON appearance at the first ever Wacken Festival in 1990, the band performed gigs in many countries, and started the recording of their debut album via private label.
The self-titled CD “Sacred Season” became a much sought after item, now being re-released as part of the stupendous Pride & Joy Music Classixx series with an extended booklet, fully remastered.
You have to love vocalist / guitarist Maarco Schultz and the guys, if only for the fact that they celebrate pure melodic rock, and that in a more than a dark era for the genre. Schultz’s voice color is similar to the great Goran Edman, and that’s a plus to add quality to these well-crafted songs.
The catchy opener I Won’t Forget, Change Your Heart, Take Away the Pain, the very good ballad The Chance, all are solid tunes performed with gusto.
A really welcomed remastered reissue.
