We’ve been featuring here fresh reissues of NEWMAN early albums. They debut CD, 1997‘s self-titled ”Newman” wasn’t reissued, but it was requested and it’s a disc you’ll love to have into your collection.
Founded by Steve Newman with the intention to be a band and not a solo project, since this first album was released in 1997 NEWMAN have established themselves as one of the leading UK melodic rock / AOR artists. This first album was released by Point Music and distributed by AOR Heaven, later the band was signed by Escape Music for the second effort.

Musically “‘Newman” is more melodic rock oriented than the following albums which had a strong AOR factor. There’s a bouncy opener in ‘If It’s Love’, a killer tune in the mould of SHY, still a live favourite to this day. Then ‘Let Your Heart Rule Your Head’ brings to mind early FM / Overland, while the keyboard driven ‘That Kind Of Girl’ is pure gold. Call me nuts, but ‘That Kind Of Girl’ brings to mind ’80s Eddie Money.
”Newman” surprised the Melodic Rock community when appeared, and still sounds awesome today.
