MelodicRock Classics is releasing a Deluxe Edition release of the classic 1984 AOR album ‘Bargin’ In‘ from Canadian guitarist / singer-songwriter BERNIE LaBARGE.
Lovingly remastered by JK Northrup from the master tapes and expanded to a 2-Disc set, the release features more than a dozen rare and unreleased tracks, including 1972’s “Catwalk” and a remix of “Work For Me” (famously covered by Long John Baldry).
With help from remix engineers David Tedesco, Terry Brown, and Mike Duncan, along with mastering engineers JK Northrup, Joao Carvalho, and Abbey Road wizards, LaBarge brings a fresh shine to the original sessions — made possible by the original multitrack tapes digitized by Metalworks Studios in Toronto.
Bernie LaBarge’s career is one of those quintessentially Canadian stories—an odyssey that wove him through countless bands, studios, and stages, often putting him just a step away from the spotlight, yet ensuring his fingerprints were everywhere in Canadian popular music.
“Barging In”, a 1984 production, of course is crystal clear and emphatizing Bernie’s smooth voice the the excellent musicianship involved. Think Tim Feeham with a little more American FM / WestCoast waves.
