To celebrate the band’s 60th anniversary, the legendary SCORPIONS debut album “Lonesome Crow“, originally released on the Brain label, which still enjoys cult status internationally, is being re-released in a completely new 2026 mix, based on the original master tapes from the archive of producer demigod Conny Plank and remixed by 2025 Grammy winner Hans-Martin Buff.
”Lonesome Crow” is the 1972’s debut studio album by the Scorpions, the only with lead guitarist Michael Schenker – just 16 at the time of the recording – as a full-time member. He soon left to join UFO and was replaced by Ulrich Roth. Schenker would, however, rejoin briefly during the recording and touring of 1979’s ‘Lovedrive’.
The album’s style is darkly melodic, typical for early Scorpions but unlike their later work, it’s a band looking for their DNA.
There’s an excellent job on remixing the album by Hans Martin-Buff. Very warm enjoyable sound. The bass, cymbals ans especially the rhythm guitars sound better like never before!
