Steelheart Records is releasing a new installment from frm their treasurable ”Lost US Jewels” series. BAND CENTRAL STATION from New York active from 1991 to 1995, originall self-released their album “Now Arriving” via the now legendary early internet website MP3.com.
For years “Now Arriving” has been nearly impossible to get, a highly collectible record now finally reissued and remastered from the master tapes.
”The Lost US Jewels Vol. 21 BAND CENTRAL STATION (B.C.S.) – Now Arriving” featured 12 very well professionally recorded songs, and if you’re getting crazy for bands like BOSTON, TRIUMPH and NELSON here’s something you might definitely love. Limited to 500, there’s a full remastered sound and a rich booklet with liner-notes, never-seen pics, songs lyrics and more.
Having had previous experience of playing with members of bands like L.A. Guns and Saraya, the collective members of Band Central Station set out in 1990 to deliver their own brand of Melodic Rock / AOR. Buoyed by the success of their independent four-song cassette, which had sold over a thousand copies to eager New Yorkers, they courted the attention of Atlantic records and Jason Flom (Twisted Sister).
Armed with some of the best songs that Boston never recorded and some of the sweetest vocal harmonies this side of a Venice record, Band Central Station initially disbanded in 1993, but saw a renaissance in 2000-01 as their music filtered over to Europe via a new twelve-song collection that was available via digital platforms.
This time around they drew the interest of Now & Then and several other European labels. Whilst nothing came from these liaisons, songs like ‘I Can’t Wait’, the harmony drenched ‘Hitman’, the Boston-esque “Here Comes Love Again’ and ‘You Want It, You Got It’ have stayed with this writer ever since.
Kudos to Steelheart Records to get these songs out to an audience that deserves to hear how good Band Central Station were in their prime.
