SAVOIR FAIRE and their album “Unfinished Business” is another entry in the Steelheart Records “Lost US Jewels” series — number 22, to be precise.
New Jersey and the tri-state area has spawned many bands over the years. The likes of Bon Jovi, Glen Burtnik, Aviator and Prophet all spring to mind when you think of that area, but how many of you have heard of SAVOIR FAIRE?
Formed in Trenton, New Jersey as ANGELICA way back in 1988, this female fronted hard rock outfit changed their name to SAVOIR FAIRE in 1990 and recorded their first cassette. Armed with the powerhouse vocal assault of Tracy Shaltis and the dual pronged guitar attack of Kevin Cavanaugh and Rob Wilkes, SAVOIR FAIRE combined style, melody and muscle.
Reminiscent of bands like Sahara and Saraya, but armed with the panache and flair of Heart, it’s no wonder that SAVOIR FAIRE was a hit on the New Jersey gig circuit. As usual, it’s the old familiar tale of the ascension of Grunge that stopped their progression. That and the frustration of no record deal saw them split in the early Nineties.
They’ve left behind a legacy that they can be rightly proud of, and we can hear it now in this “The ”Lost US Jewels” Vol. 22 SAVOIR FAIRE – Unfinished Business +2“. It’s limited to 500 copies, and seems sold out already.
