VIOLET – Silhouettes (2026) *HQ*

320_1 /// 320_2 /// HQ 1 /// HQ 2
VIOLET, the pretty young female fronted AOR / Melodic Rock outfit from Southern Germany, is about to release new music, the CD titled “Silhouettes“. Violet’s music charmingly celebrates the sound of the Eighties in the style STARSHIP, HEART or ROXETTE without any compromises. You gotta love this five-piece around frontwoman Jamie Beckham.
You can chart the band’s progress from earlier work to now, and they really hit their stride here on this album. It’s catchy, fun, energetic, and they know how to deliver a fine chorus, fresh and melodic.
Founded in 2019 at a party in the legendary Rockfabrik in Ludwigsburg, VIOLET is set to revive the colorful, extravagant ’80s, a decade full of great melodies, fun, and an unmistakable sound, in the here and now. With their lovely debut album, “Illusions,” released back in 2022, the young band from the Stuttgart region immediately played their way into the spotlight.
“Silhouettes” showcase a more confident outfit, stronger songwriting and a polished production.
A steady and strong keyboard presence leads off the opening song ”Set Me Free”, followed by Jamie’s emotionally laden vocals. The music is just ‘light’, but they do deliver a powerful, vocal harmony led chorus. “Dangerous You” has more energy and fire, and the sound immediately takes you back to the neon-light era. It’s sentimental, catchy, and quite pleasing, and you can easily sing along with the chorus.
“Somewhere, Somehow” might be the anthem song on the album. It has a slow, big, melodic sound where the low and high sonority are toggled for maximum effect. Again, keyboards are a welcome addition to the song.
“Calling for You” is the “power ballad” on the album. Defined as “a emotional rock song that builds from a soft intro to a loud, dramatic, guitar-heavy climax, featuring powerful vocals, intense lyrics about love or heartache,” and that definitely fits the bill.
Next we find ”Sex in Harmony (Live)” and ”Blame It on the Night (Live)”, and it’s nice to hear them for all who didn’t saw the band live. The demo song “Fall in Love” is an early Violet recording, well taped for a demo. Jamie didn’t put the lead vocals on this good track, it has male vocal, however it isn’t specified who performs.
As long as bands like VIOLET are around, the female-fronted AOR genre is alive and kicking.
