In recent time British metal legend SAXON is enjoying a resurgence even more impressive than their 2007-2010 revival, with the band booking gigs in a non-stop mode. And past December they reissued “10 Years of Denim and Leather [Live 1990]“.
”10 Years Of Denim And Leather” captures their July 1990 gig recorded for Central Television in Nottinghamas part of the ’10 Years Of Denim And Leather tour’, celebrating the first decade since that iconic LP was released. But the show also features other songs from Saxon’s 1980’s catalog.
This recording is very, very good, with the band inspired, hard n’ heavy, and having fun. As a curiosity, AOR-dude John Parr appears as guest in a duet with Biff on ‘Back On The Streets’.

Historically this gig features a band in transition with Graham Oliver soon to depart (Steve Dawson had gone in 1986). The “hits” are all present and correct and the setlist is a fair resume of their career to date.
Biff Byford as ever is the engaging frontman and stamps his mark too with excellent vocals, guitars are sharp and clear, and the overall recording is pretty live, with not too much post-production.
