All albums by ’80s Australian Melodic Rock act AVION heve been reissued by MelodicRock Classics for the first time on CD, remastered by JK Northrup from the best available master sources. This AVION 1987’s album “Live” capturing the band in two shows from 1986 and 1987. The reissue features 2 alternate mixes as bonus tracks. This CD is out of print already, being sold for over $150.
A few decades before he would grace the stage nightly with mega-star Shania Twain, Australian musician Randall Waller lead his band AVION with amazing guitars and vocals. AVION would release its first album “Avion” on RCA in 1983 [mixed by Bob Clearmountain] and despite great songs, top notch production, radio friendly image & music, and major label back-up, the album just didn’t go anywhere.

AVION released two very good studio albums. The band did a solid touring presenting 1986’s ‘White Noise’ and meanwhile recording on tape some of the shows, which were self-released by the band on cassette format as ‘Avion Live’. There’s strong performances, real live recordings presented exactly as they were played and sung on the night. There are no overdubs.
But it was on a late 1987 tour that keyboardist Evan Murray was killed in a car accident. This, and the failure to break through commercially outside Australia finally led the remaining members to call an end to Avion’s tenure.
