All songs are terrific. Believe us. But we need to mention ‘Prince Charming’. Written the day after Gary Rossington’s funeral in March 2023, the song came to Johnson fully formed. A tribute to a man who had become not just a hero but a friend and mentor — the legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist who had personally chosen Johnson as his replacement before passing away at the age of 71. Now, with the backing of Skynyrd bandmates Johnny Van Zant and Rickey Medlocke, ‘Prince Charming’ is an emotional piece of art.
