Now this a real fun > the only recording by mid-Eighties AOR act SHARX, and their album “On The Rock“. The band hails from an atypical place; the British island Bermuda. In fact, most of its members are American, having previously been part of the disco-band Fame, who released an album in the Seventies.
Founded by brothers Fitzsimmons (David on guitars, Barry on bass) SHARX focus was to create catchy U.S. brand of melodic rock with radio-frendly AOR. They recorded a bunch of songs for “On The Rock”, their debut album released on cassette via Bermuda’s only record label named Berry Hill Records.

Finely produced for an indie, the songs on “On The Rock” are really catchy in the style of Preview, Franke & the Knockouts, Prism… keyboard-laden, with fine guitar work and clean vocals – singer Victor Chambray sounds like Survivor’s Dave Bickler in his prime.
Opener ‘Maybe (We Lost Our Love)’ is mid-80s AOR blast, one of the songs that made this album so much sought after by fans & collectors. Fortunately Retrospect Records remastered the tapes and reissued “On The Rock” on CD, now out of print and hard to find.
