There’s been a sudden surge of activity in the STATUS QUO camp in the last year, what with their classic “Live!” album receiving a deluxe treatment, “On The Level” seeing an expanded reissue, and Francis Rossi putting “The Accidental” out fairly recently, and it doesn’t seem to stop yet.
Edsel Records is releasing the Frantic Four’s famous, and frequently bootlegged, 1979 recording from London.
Titled “Live In Hammersmith ’79” and documenting the quartet’s appearance in the popular venue on June 26th of that year. This is the first ever official CD release for this incredible live concert from STATUS QUO at their loudest and best in 1979.
Restored and newly mixed by the band’s archivist Andy Gamble from tapes found in Francis Rossi’s library, this 2xCD edition features the full 18 track concert.
Captured their ‘If You Can’t Stand The Heat’ Tour, this is regarded as one of the most sought-after live shows from the band and shows STATUS QUO at their best era.
It’s a great rock n’ roll set, heavy on the band’s stone cold classics including ‘Rockin’ All Over The World’, ‘Down Down’, ‘Roll Over Lay Down’, but also featuring “Oh, What A Night” from then then-fresh “If You Can’t Stand The Heat…” album.
