Frontman for Wild Freedom with whom toured all over Europe sharing the spotlight with the likes of Hardline, Edge Of Forever, KISS, etc, now singer IAN WILDE embarked in a solo career two years ago delivering thea solid debut album ‘Dream Hunter’, featured on 0dayrox.
Now, as appetizer from the new album IAN WILDE is presenting a “Back To You“, including new music and also covers of some of his favorite songs, with talented guests such as guitarists Oz Pettersson (OSUKARU), Linkan Andersson (TONY MARTIN, PAUL SABU), among others.
For the first cover version ”I’m So Excited” (The Pointer Sisters) WILDE puts clear this is not an ’80 karaoke’ dressed up in modern production. The song explodes with energy, big guitars and a much more hard rock oriented approach than his previous album.
Pat Benatar’s classic ”We Belong” moves between melancholy and restrained arena-sized emotion, embracing the melodic DNA of classic American heartland rock. You can feel the spirit of Bryan Adams and Bruce Springsteen flowing naturally through its veins.
Then comes ”Son of Man” is probably one of the most surprising moments on the album. What originally had a more cinematic feel, with Phil Collins singing for the Disney Tarzan soundtrack, is transformed here into an emotional outpouring of modern hard rock, raising the intensity without losing the inspiring spirit of the original composition.
And then ”Burning Love” arrives. And what a punch it delivers. Wilde doesn’t try to compete with Elvis, that would miss the point entirely. Instead, he does something smarter: he transforms the track into a full-throttle contemporary rock explosion, driven by sharp guitars and a restless highway energy, as if the song had always been waiting to be played through oversize amps beneath stadium lights.
But the true emotional core of the EP appears with ”Guide Us Home”. The only original composition on the record not only fits naturally alongside the re-imagined classics, it defines where IAN WILDE is going creatively. There’s emotion, melodic muscle and a constant sense of searching running through the song, as though all the energy built throughout the EP finally finds its destination here. It doesn’t try to impress through excess or technical tricks. It wins through honesty.
Sonically, the EP strikes a very balanced line between modern production and classic rock spirit. The guitars are strong, the rhythm section hits with clarity and everything breathes with a genuine love for stadium rock without sounding trapped in the past. Guest guitarists Dennis Felperlaan, Oz Petersson, Linkan Andersson and Josh Schwartz each bring their own identity to the material while keeping the record cohesive. Meanwhile, Ignacio Ruiz’s work on guitars, bass and programming acts as the quiet backbone holding the entire project together.
