CREAM ”Wheels Of Fire [Super Deluxe Edition]” chronicles the full creation of Ginger Baker (drums, vocals), Jack Bruce (bass, lead vocals) and Eric Clapton (guitar, vocals) groundbreaking third album. We are featuring here in exclusive the Japanese Edition pressed on SHM-CD.
The 5-disc set features a newly remastered stereo version of the album, plus for the first time a phase-corrected version that delivers greater detail and a crisp soundstage. Disc 2 includes previously unreleased personal reference reels sourced from the late Cream producer, Felix Pappalardi. Discs 3 & 4 feature live 1968 recordings from Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. Disc 5 collects alternate mixes, rarities, plus additional live tracks.

The star here is the new, previously unreleased phase-corrected version of the entire album. The latter version was achieved by using software to reverse the Haeco-CSG effect originally applied to the album. This was a 1960s audio processing technique intended to make stereo recordings compatible with mono turntables but had a side-effect of ‘blurring’ the stereo imaging. The first CD offers the remaster of the original followed by this new version that removes the Haeco-CSG effect, delivering the recordings with greater detail and a crisp soundstage.
Also included are the very first studio takes, sourced from the late CREAM producer Felix Pappalardi’s personal reference reels, these recordings have never been released before and include many juicy alternate mixes.
An essential Classic Rock record, as CREAM represent the guitar-bass-drums band concept at its absolute apex.
