Roxx Records is presenting their latest reissue, and it is a doozy! In fact, this one is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. And it has NEVER been released on CD.
One of the earlier releases from the Christian record label Frontline Records catalog comes by way of a hard rock band similar to Idle Cure and Whiteheart. That is band D.O.X. – which was a clever acronym for Defenders Of The Cross – would debut with their self-titled album in 1986. This would be the band’s one and only release on Frontline Records, although in 1989 the band issued a sophomore record independently before fading away and becoming another underground hidden gem in the Christian rock world.
Originally released in 1986, D.O.X. (Defenders of the Cross) delivered a melodic hard rock sound that fit perfectly alongside bands like Idle Cure, Whiteheart, and early Petra, while still carving out its own identity with strong hooks, thoughtful songwriting, and polished musicianship.
Though the band would later independently release a sophomore album titled Through The Fire in 1989, this self-titled debut remains the group’s most sought-after and mysterious release — a true underground treasure from the golden era of Christian rock.

What makes this album even more special is the involvement of legendary producer Terry Scott Taylor, who arranged and produced the LP during one of the busiest and most creative periods of his career. Taylor also contributed songwriting to the project, helping shape the album’s distinctive melodic and artistic character.
At the time of its original release, Frontline Records issued the album only on vinyl and cassette, as compact discs were still in their infancy. Decades later, many fans assumed this album would never receive a proper CD release — until now.

This deluxe jewel case edition includes a full 8-page lyric booklet, newly enhanced artwork and layout work by Scott Waters of NLTM Graphics, and a brand-new anniversary remaster by Rob Colwell of Bombworks Sound, giving the album renewed warmth, clarity, and punch while preserving the spirit of the original recording.
Limited to just 500 copies worldwide, this long-overdue CD release finally gives fans the opportunity to experience one of the most overlooked melodic hard rock albums of the 1980s in the format it always deserved.
