American hard rockers SALTY DOG, one time Geffen Recording artist, are presenting ”Raw Doggin’ Live 1990 & 1992”, a previously unreleased live performance at Bananas in California, on March 20, 1992. Cleaned & remastered by FnA Records, there’s two extra tracks recorded at Peabody’s Down Under Cleveland, Ohio, in 1990.
SALTY DOG started out as a club band to eventually playing theaters and then on to arenas, where the band fed off the crowd’s energy and gave it back in strides. Endless touring and constant rehearsing was part of the magic to SALTY DOG’s quick rise. Their live show energy and musicianship was praised by everyone.
Having been signed to Geffen Records by Vicki Hamilton (Guns n’ Roses, Poison, Faster Pussycat) the band quickly won over sold out audiences at the Whisky, The Roxy, Gazzari’s and The Troubadour with their own brand of bluesy Rock n Roll (semi-reminiscent of early Led Zeppelin).
Salty Dog quickly climbed the ladder of success, playing bigger and bigger venues each night. For the arena shows, where they were the opening band – SALTY DOG would start the party going, eventually leaving the main artist a crowd poised for an overall rock n’ roll assault.

So what’s in a Salty Dog Live show – tight musicianship, laid back but cohesive coordination – a show filled with strength and well… simply put… Piss & Vinegar. The band was known for long jam sessions intermingled amongst crowd favorites. Constant rehearsing allowed for the band to play well amongst one another – with the left hand knowing what the right hand was gonna do and vice versa.

”Raw Doggin’ Live 1990 & 1992” is a great example of the solid live show that Salty Dog would bestow upon its most dedicated of fans.
This live album features Darrel Beach, the band’s second lead vocalist, best known for the ‘Lost Treasures’ also released on FnA Records. Additionally is guitarist and main song writer Pete Reveen, bassist Michael Hannon, and drummer extraordinaire Khurt Maier. Sound quality is fine, enough to appreciate how good Salty Dog were on stage.
