Here’s avery good piece of late ’80s Canadian AOR / Melodic Rock: SIMON CHASE 1988’s debut album “Thrill Of The Chase“. URGENT, BLUE TEARS, FORTUNE, anyone? Well, this is a must!
Formed in Toronto, SIMON CHASE actually was a studio project, mainly consisting of vocalist Anthony Camparelli and guitarist Silvio Simone, the two figures on the album cover while other roles from the band features various players, including first class session musicians who worker with other Canadian luminaries like Wrabit, Stan Meissner, Ian Thomas, etc.
“Thrill Of The Chase” is Simon Chase’s debut, released in 1988 on a small local label. Fortunately the LP was later reissued by legendary label Long Island Records as part of their ‘ROCK CLASSIC series’, remastered, numbered, and pressed on gold CD!
While SIMON CHASE are rarely mentioned alongside Alias, Haywire, Honeymoon Suite or Loverboy, they were part of the Canadian AOR elite. Co-produced by Triumph’s Rik Emmett, expect a polished sound on fantastic numbers such as Dangerous Eyes, One More Night, Surrender, Try To Leave It, Long Distance Rider, etc.
