Now we have in exclusive on 0dayrox the 2026 Aqua Net Records release of Jessie Galante‘s Eighties bands ACTOR and FIRE, a split CD with ACTOR’s “Actor” mini-album (1983) and FIRE Demo from 1987.
Based in Buffalo, NY, ACTOR was the first band of talented female vocalist Jessie Galante. Fronting ACTOR, Jessie quickly became the number one female singer in the region, receiving countless awards as voted by her fans and the club owners. “Checkin’ Out,” her first recording with ACTOR, was out as a single just weeks following her debut on the music scene and is still played on Buffalo’s 97 Rock radio.

In 1983 ACTOR released the self-titled mini-LP “Actor” on a private label, distributed in the East Coast only. Their brand of Pat Benatar meets Lee Aaron melodic rock / 1982-83 American AOR turned this vinyl a much sought after piece. ACTOR were on the verge of inking a deal with A&M. Unfortunately that fell apart due to the sterling efforts of their inexperienced management company.
After other bands, Jessie moved to LA, and not only did she score herself some half-decent musos to join her in a band called FIRE, but her manager was one Ray Brown (responsible for holding the stud-encrusted hands of Judas Priest, Motley Crue and Bon Jovi), while the evergreen Michael Wagener (Dokken, Accept etc) came onboard to produce their showcase demo.

The band were often called to undertake showcase gigs for the major labels, and on the strength of this their only recorded demo, they should have been a compulsory signing then and there! We’re not talking some second rate Heart ripoff here, this was classy female fronted LA glam metal leaning more towards melodic rock. The band also included ex- Shark Island pairing Mike Guy & Tom Rucci, keyboardist Doug Allen (Craig Goldy’s Ritual) and drummer Jackie Ramos (Hericane Alice, Bangalore Choir), and with their combined musical and songwriting fusing with Galante’s, a virtual witches brew of melodic glam metal was to unfold. With Brown and Wagener onside, it couldn’t be anything else but.

“Actor ’83 (includes ‘FIRE’ 1987 Demo)” is a wonderful slice of female-fronted US Melodic Hard Rock, especially the FIRE material which doesn’t sounds like a demo at all. Fans of Vixen / mid-80s Heart need to hear this!
