We are delighted to present a rare (and good) collector’s piece: “Discharge“, the 1993 debut album by unknown Japanese melodic hard rock / glam metal act WIRED – one of the most sought after indie debut CD’s from the once thriving Japanese glam scene.
While many Japanese bands failed to deliver on the music front (they had the looks & musicianship, but rarely the sound), WIRED was a rare exception. A superb singer who could easily pass as American, a killer guitar work, and a really good vibrant production, makes this CD a prized gem in the collections of the few who actually can claim to owning one.
The CD, on rare occasion, was found in the exclusive (by invitation only) Collector’s Corner section of the kissmydisc.jp metal / hard rock shop. A copy has now appeared on eBay, and it’s very expensive.
You’ll be surprised by WIRED: while the band is Japanese they sound like a L.A. outfit circa 1987! Think DOKKEN, LILLIAN AXE, even STRYPER. While produced by themselves, sound & mix is superb, clear, melodic but razor sharp. And the songs rock!
