TALES FROM THE P0RN (feat Stevie Rachelle of Tuff) – H.M.M.V (2017)

Released today September 15, “H.M.M.V” is the debut album from new hard rockers TALES FROM THE P0RN featuring Tuff frontman Stevie Rachelle on lead vocals.
Opening the record with a track titled ‘Back To The 80s’ pretty sums up what this band is all about: sleazy hard rock totally inspired by the Los Angeles Eighties scene.

“H.M.M.V” is the hair metal era put on disc 2017: swaggerin’ vocals, loud guitars, reverbs and gang choruses.
Tales From The P0rn hails from Brazil where they tracked the songs, and Stevie Rachelle cut vocals in Los Angeles. In fact, both parts never met in person… the wonders of the internet and technology.
But the whole thing resulted very cohesive and the music and vocals / lyrics perfectly match.

The band write fine and cool songs in the classic US glammy style and they are darn good players, especially Andy Sun’s guitar work.
Check out the titles; the aforentioned ‘Back to the 80’s’, ‘Hot Girls Fast Cars’, ‘Girls Wanna Party (In Augusta Street)… yeah, Sunset Strip stuff complete with some nasty lyrics & gang vocals and even a ‘Parental Advisory’ sticker on the CD cover.

‘Perfect Love’ is more melodic hard rock oriented yet with the sleazy factor intact including hair metal cowbell.
‘Let It Shake’ feels like a Tuff lost song, ‘Scary Movie’ is more groovy hard rock, and if you have a doubt about the band’s pure ’80s culture, they do a cover of ‘Danger Zone’ from the Top Gun movie.

Tales From The P0rn are really good recreating the ’80s Sunset Strip scene with meaty songs in this genre driven by great guitar licks and the effective lead vocals of Stevie Rachelle, an expert in this matter.
So if you miss the golden days of Motley Crue, Ratt, L.A. Guns, Poison… “H.M.M.V” will put a big smile in your face. A cool, fun, very entertaining record.
