UNIT OF INHERITANCE – The Impossible (2023)
Established in the UK, UNIT OF INHERITANCE was formed by brothers Dave (Guitars) & Mike Evans (Drums/Keyboards) both songwriters as well for the band’s debut album titled “The Impossible“. Characterised by its blend of delightful progressive phrases, soaring guitars, robust backline and strong vocal melodies, UNIT OF INHERITANCE is likened to elements of Queen, Journey, Dokken and many other Eighties acts.
“The Impossible” combines a playful yet introspective approach to the songwriting, which captures the thoughts of many. Alongside the interesting lyrics, musically the band has a captivating touch where atmospheres mix with pulsating rhythms wrapped by a clean, polished production sound.
Songs like title track has indeed a progressive AOR feel where Journey comes to mind, then ‘Rise’ delivers a modern style however at places close to TEN / Gary Hugues, while the very melodic midpaced ‘Hope’ even adds a melodic rock / poppy feel.
“The Impossible” proves that with talent and good ideas, today it isn’t ‘impossible’ to create a first class product managed by yourself – the band recorded, produced and mixed everything.
It’s a very strong, quite original album both in style & sonic design clearly inspired by the ’80s / ’90s melodic / hard scene, updated to modern times and incorporating a singular own spin.
