THUNDER – Wonder Days [iTunes version extra tracks] (2015)

They disbanded, they did a short reunion and then split again, but British Melodic Hard Rock wonders THUNDER seems to be back for good this time, reinforced by a new record contract and a new album: “Wonder Days”, to be released next February 16, 2015.

For their 10th studio album, Thunder’s focus is on party time, armed with a sharp sound and a bunch of great songs in their timeless tradition, like a natural child of Bad Company playing their rooted Melodic Hard Rock enriched by many influences that are coming from the warm bluesy rock (“The Thing I Want” or “Black Water”) with an attractive pace, then shift to some hard rockin’ infused songs (“Serpentine”) to some more acoustic stuff (“The Rain”).

We have a Thunder excellent ballad (the superb “Broken”), a few typical British Hard Rock tracks (“I Love The Weekend” or “Chasing Shadows” in the early Whitesnake style) but also heavier numbers such as the title track, “The Prophet” that sounds like mid-Ninties UFO, orthe last part of “When The Music Played” which is quite enjoyable and surprisingly strong.
“Resurrection Day” is another sublime and ambitious cut, another proof that Danny Bowes is a fantastic vocalist, indeed it’s his voice with his soulful rendition and his faultless performance that uplift the whole album.

There will be many formats available for “Wonder Days”, all with different artwork; a standard CD , a double CD with the bonus second disc ‘Live At Wacken’, a double LP vinyl in gatefold sleeve, a CD Bundle including a an extra EP and this ‘Deluxe iTunes extra tracks’ featuring two exclusive songs; a wonderful acoustic take on “Broken”, and “Black Water Acoustic Guitar Version”.
After the underrated album ‘Bang’ it’s time for the British Thunder to reach again the higher skies, and is the moment for its roar, to be louder, rawer & as powerful as ever.
